Interstar Materials of Sherbrooke, which manufactures pigments, admixtures and fibers for the concrete industry, has won a prestigious Canada Export Award for 2005 recognizing it as one of Canada’s most competitive companies in the global market place.

The Canada Export Award is an annual program from International Trade Canada, honouring Canadians who have made significant contributions to the Canadian economy. Zachary Gillman, Interstar’s president, accepted the Research and Development Award at a ceremony in Ottawa.

“Fifty-three percent of Interstar’s sales are derived from exportation, which is a very important statistic to our company,” said Gillman. “Having already occupied a dominate place in the Canadian market, Interstar decided to ensure robust and healthy growth through exportation.”
