Interstar Is Moving Full Speed Ahead

Interstar has developed a H1N1 Business Continuity Plan

10-29-2009
As the flu season begins and the H1N1 pandemic spreads throughout the world, we would like to assure you that we have developed a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to mitigate any risks that H1N1 poses to our health and business. Preparedness is the key to ensuring the well being of our staff and our operations. Toward that end, our BCP includes the following measures:
  • Educating and training our staff regarding the symptoms of H1N1 flu and ways of decreasing their chances of catching it.
  • Creating routine and systematic cleaning procedures for disinfecting desks, tabletops and countertops, etc.
  • Establishing good hygiene practices and installed alcohol-based hand sanitizers throughout each Interstar location.
  • All visitors must wash their hands with alcohol-based sanitizers before entering our facilities, and will be denied entry if they are visibly ill.
  • Continuous education about the H1N1 flu through internal memos and posting information in easily accessible common areas.
  • Encouraging employees to get the H1N1 flu vaccination.
  • Maintaining sufficient inventory of finished goods to prevent shortages in the event of a major flu outbreak.
  • Cross-training employees so that there are no voids in key operational positions should employees be absent from work due to the H1N1 flu.
  • Maintaining reasonable supply of raw materials.
  • Keeping an adequate supply of spare parts for routine maintenance.
  • In the event an employee becomes ill at work and cannot leave immediately, we have prepared isolation areas and will provide respirator masks for sick employees.
  • Encouraging employees to stay home when sick and telecommuting where possible.
The global health situation is ongoing and fluid, and as such, so is our BCP. We have always been a very flexible organization and will adjust our plan as warranted by conditions. Should there be a major outbreak, we feel strongly that we have taken sufficient measures to minimize or eliminate the impact to our operations and to our clients.
